For Aurelio Montes, the cabernet sauvignons from Marchigüe grown on the granitic soils in western Colchagua offer a special grip, a structure made of firm tannins, as well as acidity that's more pronounced than that of the reds from Montes' other Colchagua vineyard in Apalta. This falls smack in the middle. A cabernet built from its tannins - a firm, piercing construction that gives rise to flavors of black fruits and spices in a big and very well-balanced wine. [Drink till 2025+.] Score - 94. (Patricio Tapia, guiadescorchados.cl, 2022)
