A regional Napa blend from vineyards in St. Helena, Calistoga, Oakville, Stags Leap, Atlas Peak, and Carneros from the long growing season of 2018. Principally cabernet sauvignon (90%) with help from 3% petit verdot, 4% cabernet franc and 3% merlot. Rich, fleshy and velvety on the palate with lots of compelling textural elements. Violets and bramble and licorice complement the black fruit. Due to a partial barrel ferment and 16 months of aging in new and old French oak, the wood spice is seamlessly integrated. The tannins have softened still leaving a hint of bitterness [which] helps add freshness and levity to the palate. Complex and lengthy. Best now to 2030. Tasted September 2021. Score - 93.
